Meet Our Nurse Defense Team Renae Schumann
Dr. Renae Schumann has been a nurse for nearly 40 years, a nurse educator, and a nursing education administrator for over 25 years. She was a Director of Congregational Outreach for Memorial Hermann Healthcare System. At UT Health (now Cizik School of Nursing) she held multiple leadership roles including BSN Coordinator, Nursing Scholarship Committee Chair, Nursing Honors Program developer, and Chair of the Baccalaureate Degree Council. She was active in multiple professional organizations including the Zeta Pi Chapter (UT) of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, and she held various positions and offices including a legal nurse consultant for plaintiff and defense medical malpractice cases. She was a Dean for nearly eight years at Houston Baptist University. She had worked with the Texas Board of Nursing. She served the Texas Center for Nursing Workforce Studies Advisory Board; the Texas Nurses Association (TNA) as a member of the Education and Workforce Planning Workgroup, the Leadership Succession Committee, and delegate to the ANA Membership Assembly; and the TNA District 9 (D9) as delegate to the TNA House of Delegates, and as the District 9 (Houston area) President from 2021-2022.
