Accusations are stressful issues for an RN or LVN, except when a RN attorney in Texas assists you against the case. The Texas Board of Nurses is responsible for all hearings against RNs and LVNs undergoing a case that may revoke, suspend or only discipline their license. Take note that a RN Attorney in Texas can also defend a nurse’s license against accusations.
This is the story of an RN who has been charged for alleged medical negligence and medical documentation error.
At the time of the initial incident, the RN was employed in a medical facility in Houston and had been in that position for one year and eight months.
On or about October 19, 2006, the RN failed to supervise the actions of a student nurse to whom she delegated to take a baby patient to room 244 bed 1. The student took the baby to room 244 bed 2 instead of room 244 bed 1.
While the baby was with the wrong mother, it was breastfed. When the RN discovered the error, she took the baby without explanations and moved it to bed 1.
Afterward, the RN failed to report the incident to any of her supervisors or to the physician. Her conduct was likely to injure the patient in that the patient could have acquired anything that is passed through breast milk.
During the hearing, the RN states that the student requested to take the baby to the mother and stated she was familiar with hospital procedure. Other nurses present verified that the student had been allowed to take babies to the rooms the previous day and the RN also asked the Charge Nurse.
However, without the proper help from a good RN attorney in Texas, the RN lost the case and she was disciplined and suspended.
The Texas Board of Nursing then subjected the RN and her license into disciplinary action. The accusation would have been defended by an experienced and skilled RN attorney in Texas, had the RN hired one. Hiring a nurse attorney for defense is applicable for any kind of accusation laid against an RN or LVN.
