At the time of the incident, she was employed as an RN with a home healthcare services provider in Dallas, Texas, and had been in that position for fourteen (14) years and eleven (11) months.

On or about March 23, 2020, while employed as an RN with a home healthcare services provider in Dallas, Texas, and assigned to provide skilled nursing for a patient, RN failed to notify the patient’s physician after RN advanced the patient’s peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) from the initial insertion site. Furthermore, RN admitted she did not notify the patient’s physician. RN’s conduct was likely to injure the patient, in that advancing the patient’s PICC without a valid physician’s order could result in the patient suffering from adverse reactions.

In response, RN states she had difficulties removing the old occlusive dressing and the stat lock dressing which caused movement of the catheter from its initial placement. RN relates she left the patient’s home to drop off lab work with the intent to call the doctor, but then forgot.

However, she was not able to provide a good defense attorney for herself. Therefore, the Texas Board of Nursing placed her RN license on a disciplinary action instead.
