An allegation or complaint could be a serious case, which is why a nurse attorney is needed if you get accused of this kind of scenario. However, some who thought they were guilty of the charges failed to hire a nurse attorney just because they thought it’s the end for their license already. But that is not entirely the case as there is still hope that you can get through such case with the help of a nurse attorney.
Unfortunately, a RN from Fort Worth failed to do this which resulted in disciplinary action. Take note that the Board of Nursing who handles all of the cases may affect the nurse’s license from receiving the suspension, disciplinary action, or revocation. However, with a right nurse attorney for the case, rest assured that the case can go according to the RN’s favor, especially if the RN has a good defense against the case.
On or about June 27, 2017, while working as an Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) independent contractor, and assisting in the surgery of a patient, the RN accidentally cut the aforementioned patient’s upper left thigh while removing the surgical drape after the surgeon had left the Operating Room (OR).
Subsequently, she cleaned the wound, and applied skin glue without a physician order, and failed to report it to the surgeon.
During the hearing, the RN states that as she was preparing the patient to be moved to the stretcher after the surgery, she discovered that she had accidentally nicked the external surface of the patient’s thigh with scissors during the undraping.
She explains that the cut was superficial. She indicates that after she cleaned the area, she applied skin glue, and asked the circulator to make a note on the operative record. She explains that the physician didn’t return to the OR, and she intended to find him and inform him what had happened, but unintentionally forgot.
However, the Board of Nursing disciplined her license because they think that her conduct was likely to injure the patient from lack of appropriate nursing and medical care.
If you ever undergo cases such as this, it’s best to seek the assistance of a good nurse attorney as it could make the case better in your favor. Be sure to find a nurse attorney who’s experienced and knowledgeable in several cases to ensure the best assistance possible.
