Whenever someone filed a complaint against you which involves false documentation, your license could be put in danger if not defended by a nurse attorney. An LVN from Houston, Texas is just one of the many examples.

On or about April 9, 2018, while employed as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in a university hospital in Houston, the LVN falsely documented an assessment for a patient in that she documented the assessment prior to seeing the patient. Her conduct resulted in an incomplete medical record and was likely to injure the patient in that subsequent caregivers did not have accurate information on which to base their care decisions.

Because of this, the LVN was summoned by the Texas Board of Nursing to defend her side. During the hearing, the LVN denies she intentionally charted an incorrect or false assessment on this patient. She further explained she had mistakenly charted but had gone back to try to correct the assessment.

However, the Board states that her conduct incomplete medical record, and was likely to injure the patient in that subsequent caregivers did not have accurate information on which to base their care decisions.

Furthermore, the LVN failed to hire a nurse attorney to help her with her case. Because of this, the Texas Board of Nursing suspended and disciplined the LVN.
