It’s best to seek the help of a Texas BON lawyer when facing different complaints and allegations. However, some nurses tend to face these results instead without thinking that nurse attorneys are always reliable for matters such as these.
On or about May 13, 2019, while employed as a Home Health in Houston, Texas, the LVN unnecessarily and improperly utilized fecal disimpaction on the patient, without a valid physician’s order and when the patient was not impacted. Additionally, the LVN’s finger inappropriately went into the patient’s vagina during the procedure. Subsequently, the patient was found to have bruising to the hymen.
The LVN’s conduct unnecessarily exposed the patient to a risk of infection and caused possible bruising to the patient’s vaginal area.
The Texas Board of Nursing sent a letter to the LVN regarding the issue so then she can have the chance to defend herself.
The LVN states that she was providing incontinence care to the patient when she noted that there was stool stuck in the patient’s anal area. She states that she put on gloves and applied KY Jelly and proceeded to remove the feces utilizing her pinky finger. The LVN states that the patient began to turn on her back which caused her finger to go into the patient’s vaginal area. The LVN further states that she informed the patient’s mother of the incident and together they assessed the patient. The LVN states that there were no injuries noted to the patient and that the patient did not display any discomfort for the remainder of her shift.
However, she was not able to provide a good defense for herself. Therefore, the Texas Board of Nursing placed her LVN license to a disciplinary action instead.
