The Texas Board of Nursing (BON) is the government agency that has jurisdiction to hear and decide administrative cases involving RN and LVN in Texas. It is also the agency that is responsible for overseeing the practice of professional nursing all over the state of Texas. During the hearing, the LVN states she did take twenty Hydrocodone 7.5mg tablets belonging to the patient and two Hydrocodone 10mg tablets belonging to the patient, in an effort to relieve dental procedure.
The Board finds that there exist serious risks to public health and safety as a result of impaired nursing care due to the intemperate use of controlled substances or substance use disorder.
However, due to lack of evidence and expert nurse attorney to defend her, the LVN was suspended and disciplined.
