Complaint at work is a serious case, which is why a skilled nurse attorney is needed if you get accused of this kind of scenario. However, some who thought they were guilty of the charges failed to hire a nurse attorney just because they thought it’s the doom for their RN or LVN license already. But that is not entirely the case as there is still hope.

On or about November 16, 2017, while employed as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in a jail medical facility in Amarillo, Texas, the LVN failed to notify the provider when the skin on a diabetic inmate’s foot peeled off in three areas following his ordered foot soak.

Instead, the LVN gave the inmate triple antibiotic ointment and a bandaid without a provider’s order. Her conduct deprived the provider the opportunity to provide medical intervention to prevent complications and was likely to injure the inmate.

On or about November 23, 2017, November 30, 2017, and December 12, 2017, the LVN failed to completely assess and document the assessment of the circulation to and wounds on the inmate’s foot. Her conduct was likely to injure the inmate from clinical care decisions based on incomplete assessment information and subsequent care givers would rely on her documentation in order to provide further care.

In response to the cases filed against her, the LVN states that the inmate tolerated his foot soak well, she gave him triple antibiotic ointment (TAO) and band-aids for his foot, and he had no issues at the time he left the clinic.

This is the reason why the Texas Board of Nursing discipline and suspended her license.
