Sympathy for the patient are one of a nurse’ most valuable assets. This is the main reason why whenever someone filed a complaint against you involving patient abuse, your license could be put in danger if not defended by a nurse attorney.

On or about April 10, 2018, while employed as a Registered Nurse Edinburg, Texas, the RN verbally abused her assigned patient by telling the pediatric patient “That’s why the teachers from school don’t want you anymore!”

On or about April 10, 2018, the RN physically abused her assigned patient in that she put her knee up to the patient’s chin, and slapped the patient.

The RN’s conduct was likely to cause emotional, physical, and psychological harm to the patient and could have interfered or disrupted this patient’s treatment.

The Texas Board of Nursing is the one who has full jurisdiction on cases involving RNs and LVNs. Therefore, the RN was summoned by the Texas Board of Nursing to explain her side. In response to the cases filed against her, the RN states the words she spoke to the patient were to help him understand the behavior she was exhibiting was not acceptable and cannot be displayed in social settings. The RN denies she was yelling or using foul language. Further, the RN denies abuse and states everything she did was to protect herself, the MHT and the patient. She states she responded the best she could as she did not receive educational material for techniques on how to handle a 7yo male child without assistance.

However, the RN failed to hire a nurse attorney to help her with her case. Because of this, the Texas Board of Nursing suspended and disciplined the RN.
