It’s best to seek the help of a reliable nurse attorney when facing different complaints and allegations. However, some nurses tend to face these results instead without thinking that nurse attorneys are always reliable for matters such as these.

On or about October 12, 2015, an LVN from El Paso failed to adequately supervise vocational nursing students and confirm physician orders for the administration of Influenza Vaccine to twenty residents of a medical facility in Lubbock.

Subsequently, twenty residents received a double dose of the Flu Vaccine. Her conduct was likely to injure the patients in that failure to administer flu vaccines as ordered by the physician could have resulted in non-efficacious influenza protection or vaccine overdose.

The Texas Board of Nursing sent a letter to the LVN regarding the issue so then she can have the chance to defend herself. During the hearing, the LVN states that she informed the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) at the facility that students were administering 1 ml of the flu vaccine and the ADON informed her that each resident was to receive 0.5ml, not 1ml. The LVN further states she takes full responsibility for not looking at the doctors’ orders that were included with the paperwork she was given.

However, she was not able to provide a good defense attorney for herself. Therefore, the Board of Nursing placed her LVN license to a disciplinary action instead.

Any RN or LVN should never commit errors, negligence or misconduct in work as it may affect their performance, which may lead to further issues to the patients they are taking care of. Additionally, if you ever undergo cases such as this, it’s best to seek the assistance of a good nurse attorney as it could make the case better in your favor.
